Department of Pharmaceutics

Pharmaceutics is one of the disciplines in the pharmacy, which deals with formulation of a pure drug substance into dosage forms. The subject areas of pharmaceutics include Pharmaceutical Technology, Physical Pharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics, Industrial Pharmacy and Drug Delivery Systems for professional doctoral degree, post graduate and undergraduate students.

The department of pharmaceutics was started in 2009 with the aim of producing a competent Industrial Pharmacist, who would take up a lead in the design and development of drugs and pharmaceuticals. Department Laboratories are well equipped with sophisticated and modern equipments like, Remik Rotary tablet punching machine, USP dissolution test apparatus, Kelwika multipurpose machine, and UV spectrophotometer, The Department Library has adequate number of latest Dekker series books, international and national journals with internet facility.

The department of pharmaceutics in Grace College of pharmacy started functioning with an initial strength of 10 students. All the ten students have been well placed in both industries and academics. During the academic tenure the students are given opportunity to present research papers in various national and international seminars. They are moulded to acquire knowledge in industrial field as well as in research field. One of our students from batch 2010-2012 obtained highest score in 1st M.pharm with university first rank. The staff members of the department were actively involved in organizing ICMR sponsored 2 days national seminar between 14th and 15th of Nov 2009 on ‘emerging trends in Pharmaceutical drug development and research ‘at Grace College of pharmacy. Our research work is well evidenced by our publications in peer reviewed journals.
