CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM - 2025

Career Guidance Program – 2025

The Placement cell, Grace College of Pharmacy has conducted the Career Guidance Program – 2025 with the title of Global Career Options for Indian Pharmacy Students for the last academic year 2024. The Program held at Grace Auditorium on 25th January 2025 for the International Level Opportunity with the organization Eazylink Academy Pvt.Ltd. for the Global Opportunities to the B.Pharm & Pharm.D Students.  The Career Guidance Program fetches an excellent opportunity to the Pharm.D & B.Pharma aspirants who aim for their career initiatives at International Level which is a wide open experience at an international level arena. Almost Seventy Four students actively participated in this Program. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Baskar L., Prof. & Head Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The keynote address by Mr. Sony Akkara, Founder & Executive Director Easylink Academy Pvt. Ltd. was expected to be an energizing lecture encouraging students to pursue their goals in the international level opportunities and the salient features pertained to the title with tenacity. Mr. Karuppasamy, Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis gave a vote of thanks to everyone.  The program concluded with the playing of the National Anthem.

63rd NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK CELEBRATIONS - 2024

Grace College of Pharmacy, in association with the Indian Pharmacy Graduates' Association (IPGA, Kerala State Branch), celebrated the 63rd National Pharmacy Week from November 21st  to 27th , 2024, under the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacy”. The event aimed to highlight the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare, and various activities were organized to the students. The competition series was officially inaugurated by our esteemed Principal, Dr. Y. Haribabu. Several events were held throughout the week, including Elocution, Poster-Making, Quiz Competitions, Mime Performances, and Live Patient Counseling Sessions. Students from M. Pharm, B. Pharm, and Pharm.D programs actively participated, showcasing their knowledge and creativity.As part of the celebrations, a Health Awareness Pharma Rally was organized, which started at Karuna Hospital, Melamuri. By showing the pluck cards aimed to spread health awareness to the surrounding community. In addition, an Anti-Microbial Awareness Camp was conducted at the Pudhupariyaram Primary Health Centre, focusing on educating the public about the proper use of antibiotics. The Anti-Microbial Awareness Campaign also extended to the Pirayiri Grama Panchayath, where the surrounding homes were informed about the dangers of antimicrobial misuse and resistance. The celebrations concluded with a valedictory function on November 27th, 2024, where the winners of the various competitions were recognized. Mementos and certificates were distributed by our Vice Principal, Dr.C.I.Sajeeth, in a ceremony that marked the end of a successful National Pharmacy Week. Through these initiatives, the event not only celebrated the contributions of pharmacists but also fostered a sense of community involvement in promoting health and well-being.

ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE AWARENESS CAMP – 2024

As a part of World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (18.11.2024-24.11.2024), campaign was organized by Department of Pharmacy Practice, Grace College of Pharmacy, Palakkad and conducted by Dr.S.Thangamani, Professor, Mr. Mahesh T Madhavan, Associate professor Department of Pharmacy Practice, Five Internship students Pharm D and Twenty Third year Pharm D Students at Family Health Centre- Puduppariyaram, Palakkad on 22-11-2024 from 9:15am to 12pm. The main aim of the camp was to generate awareness among the people regarding the alarming rise of resistance of antimicrobials patient population. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sinoj, Medical Superintendent, Family Health centre- Puduppariyaram,  Palakkad  and general public in and around Puduppariyaram enthusiastically participated in the event. Approximately 200 patients were counseled by the students. The main focus of counseling was to help them to provide awareness about antimicrobial resistance and the prepared leaflets by the department were also provided to the general public.

BREAST CANCER AWARNESS CAMP – NOVEMBER 2024

In observance of Breast cancer awareness month, the Department of pharmacy practice at Grace College of Pharmacy, Palakkad, organizedan awareness campaign at Chittur Taluk hospital, Palakkad on November 5, 2024 from 9:30 am to 01:00 pm. The event was coordinated by Dr. V Karthikeyan, Professor and Dr. Vini Pavithran, Associate Professor from the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Fifth and Sixth year Pharm D students participatedin the campaign. The primary aim of the camp was to raise awareness among the public about the alarming rise in Breast cancer, its causes, signs and symptoms, detection techniques and treatment options. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Anil Kumar, Medical Superintendent and attended by Mrs. Bindu mol M K, Medical supervisor and Mrs. Swathi, P.R.O, at Chittur Taluk hospital, Palakkad. Approximately 196 patients were counseled by the studentsand the informational leaflets prepared by the department were distributed to the general public.

DIABETES MELLITUS AWARNESS CAMP – 2024

As a part of World Diabetes Awareness day (14.11.2024), campaign was organized by Department of pharmacy practice, Grace College of Pharmacy, Palakkad and conducted by Dr. S.Thangamani, Professor, Dr. Athira .G., Assistant Professor, Mr. Mahesh .T. Madhavan, Associate professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice,  Internship students Pharm.D. and Second year Pharm .D. Students at Community Health Centre - Kuzhalmannam, Palakkad on 14-11-2024 from 9:15am to 12pm. The main aim of the camp was to generate awareness among the people regarding the alarming rise of diabetes mellitus patient population and serious complications due to diabetes, its causes, signs and symptoms and Prevention. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sindhu, Medical Superintendent, Community Health centre- Kuzhalmannam, Palakkad and general public in and around Kuzhalmannam enthusiastically participated in the event. Approximately 309 patients were counseled by the students. The main focus of counseling was to help them to provide awareness about Diabetes Mellitus and the prepared leaflets by the department were also provided to the general public.

Grace College of Pharmacy celebrated its graduation ceremony for the B.Pharm (2019-2024) and Pharm.D (2018-2024) batches on November 11, 2024, at the Hitech Auditorium, Pirayiri. The event, which began at 10:00 AM, was a momentous occasion for the graduating students, their families, faculty, and distinguished guests. The ceremony commenced with a prayer, followed by the KUHS Anthem. The Chief Guest, Dr. Rajasree RS, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), addressed the attendees, sharing her insights and congratulatory remarks for the graduates. The proceedings began with a warm welcome address by Prof. Dr. Y. Haribabu, Principal of Grace College of Pharmacy. Janab P.M. Hassan Kunhi, Chairman, Grace College of pharmacy delivered the Presidential Address. The inaugural address was given by Dr. Rajasree RS, who officially declared the ceremony open and shared inspiring words with the graduates. The Keynote Address was delivered by Janab P.P. Uneen Kutty Moulavi, General Secretary, who reflected on the importance of the occasion and the bright future ahead for the graduates.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of academic excellence awards. Among the awardees were:

Following the award presentations, graduation certificates were distributed to the students, marking the completion of their academic journeys.Prof. Dr. C.I. Sajeeth, Vice Principal of the College, then led the graduates in taking the Pharmacist Oath, The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. L. Baskar, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The Chief Guest officially dissolved the ceremony, and the event ended with the singing of the National Anthem.

2024-25 BATCHES

The orientation program for our 24th batch of B. Pharm. students (since 2001) and 13th batch of Pharm. D. students (since 2011) was held in the Grace College auditorium on October 22, 2024. The B. Pharm students sang a prayer hymn. Prof. Dr. C. I. Sajeeth, our vice principal, welcomed the delegation. Janab Hassan Kunhi, the chairman, Grace College of Pharmacy, who inaugurated the program with his presidential address, emphasizing the importance of the curriculum for the students. Janab P. P. Unneen Kutti Moulavi, the General Secretary, presented study tips and underlined the value of parents monitoring their children's progress and academic activities. Prof. Dr. Y. Haribabu, the Principal, gave the keynote speech and gave an inspiring talk about motivating parents and students to follow their dreams with perseverance. Dr. Baskar L. and Dr. R. Sivakumar, the heads of the Pharmaceutical chemistry and Pharmaceutics departments, respectively, then presented a speech of congratulations.

Mr. Karuppasamy, Associate Professor Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis gave a vote of thanks.

The program concluded with the playing of the National Anthem.

WORLD PHARMACIST DAY CELEBRATION - 2024

 Each year, Grace College of Pharmacy observes World Pharmacist Day on September 25 as a worldwide celebration. In order to raise awareness of the role pharmacists play in promoting health, this day is observed. The theme for this year is "Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs." Each year, associations and individuals in the pharmaceutical sector can create national enterprises or local projects to showcase their exceptional efforts in promoting global health. The organization releases a new subject each year.

Within this framework, we also organized a program viz., Elocution, Quiz and Poster making Competitive events to the pharma aspirants with the titled theme to raise the awareness among our budding pharmacists. This kind of celebration was unique and extremely fulfilling for both aspiring pharmacists and all of our pharmacists.

Prof. Dr. C. I. Sajeeth, Vice Principal, Grace College of Pharmacy, spoke about the duties and obstacles facing the pharmacy profession at this event, as well as several aspects of the field duly who delivered the event winners with the trophy and their certificates which has motivate the students in a well advanced level to their extracurricular activities.

ONAM CELEBRATION - 2024

The Grace College of Pharmacy celebrated Onam on September 13, 2024, to commemorate equality and harmony among the student body, in the golden memories of the festival.

Grace College of Pharmacy welcomed Onam by decorating its grounds with balloons, traditional lamps, and colorful flower rangolis made by the students in the school courtyard. Numerous events and customary contests, such the spoon race, tug of war, and floral carpet-making, were planned as part of the festivities.

For the benefit of all the staff and students, the institute also planned an Onam Sadhya. Students took part in the programs with excitement and great enthusiasm. A cultural event takes place at the institute to cap off the onam celebration.

National Anti ragging awareness week celebrated from 12-18 August, 2024 at Grace College of Pharmacy, Palakkad. Various competitions such as poster making, logo designing, essay writing and slogan contest were conducted and hand over the prizes, certificates to the winners.

An anti ragging awareness program named “Reconnecting Youth” was organized by Anti Ragging committee at college auditorium on 23rd  August, 2024 from 10.00 AM–12.30PM.

The program was inaugurated by Adv. Shabaz, Assistant legal Aid defense counsel system, palakkad. The program aimed at educating the young mind regarding ragging and its consequences. This initiative was successfully completed with the involvement of II Sem. B.Pharm and IV sem. B Pharm students.

As a part of Allergy awareness Week(23-29 June 2024), campaign was organized by Department of pharmacy practice, Grace College of Pharmacy, Palakkad and conducted by Dr.S.Thangamani, Professor , Mr. Mahesh T Madhavan, Associate professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice &13 Internship students at Chittur Taluk Hospital, Palakkad on 26-06-2024 from 9:15am to 12pm. The main aim of the camp was to generate awareness among the people regarding the alarming rise of allergy, its causes, signs and symptoms and Prevention. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sudhesh, General Physician, Chittur Taluk Hospital,  Palakkad  and general public in and around Chittur enthusiastically participated in the event. Approximately 100 patients were counseled by the students. The main focus of counseling was to help them to prevent the causes of Allergy and the prepared leaflets by the department were also provided to the general public.

An antimicrobial Awareness campaign was organized by Department of pharmacy practice, Grace College of Pharmacy, Palakkad at Primary Health center (PHC), Kodunthirapully, on 22nd November 2023 from 09.00 AM to 03.00PM. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Esther Anu Pathrose MBBS, FID, CCEBDM, Diabetologist & Mr. Danial (Health Inspector), PHC, Kodunthirapully.

An Antibiotics Awareness Camp was successfully conducted in the Grama Panchayat of Kodunthirapully with the aim of educating the public about the responsible use of antibiotics and the dangers of antibiotic resistance. This initiative was a collaborative effort involving III Sem M.Pharm, IV & V Pharm D, VII Sem B. Pharm students and volunteers (Asha workers) the support of the Grama Panchayat.

Main objectives of this programme was to raise awareness about the proper use of antibiotics, To inform the public about the risks associated with antibiotic misuse, To promote the understanding of antibiotic resistance and its consequences.

House Visits: A team of Grace College of Pharmacy students and volunteers visited every house in the Kodunthirapully Grama Panchayat. During the visits, we provided information on how antibiotics should be used correctly and the importance of completing prescribed courses. We distributed informative pamphlets in the local language to ensure that everyone could understand the message.

Interactive Sessions: At various points in the community, interactive sessions were conducted to engage with the public. These sessions included Q&A segments where residents could ask questions about antibiotics and their use.

Distribution of Educational Materials: Pamphlets, brochures, and posters were distributed to all households. Materials were also left at community centers and other public places for wider reach.

Conclusion: The Antibiotics Awareness Camp in Kodunthirapully Grama Panchayat was a resounding success. We achieved our goal of spreading crucial information about the proper use of antibiotics and the dangers of resistance. We thank the Grama Panchayat, volunteers, and the residents of Kodunthirapully for their support and participation.

Venue: Primary Health Centre (PHC), Kodunthirapully.

Time: 09.00 AM to 03.00 PM

A Diabetes Awareness campaign was organized by Department of pharmacy practice, Grace College of Pharmacy, Palakkad at Primary Health center (PHC), Kodunthirapully, on 20 & 21st November 2023 from 09.00 AM to 03.00PM. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Esther Anu Pathrose MBBS, FID, CCEBDM, Diabetologist & Mr. Danial (Health Inspector), PHC, Kodunthirapully.

The main aim of this campaign was to avoid acute de-compensation, prevent or delay the appearance of late disease complications, decrease mortality, and maintain a good quality of life. General public in and around Pirayiri, Navakode and Kodunthirapully patients were enthusiastically participated in this event. Approximately 342 patients were counseled by the IV. Pharm D (Batch: 2020 - 2026) students. The main focus of counseling was to help them to prevent complication and control of Diabetes, Pharmacological, Non Pharmacological and life style modification were included in the counseling aids.

On October 18, 2023, the Grace College auditorium hosted the orientation program for our twenty-third batch of new B. Pharm students (since 2001) and our twelfth batch of new Pharm.D. Students (since 2011).

The performance began with a prayer song performed by the B. Pharm students. Our Honorable Vice Principal, Prof. Dr. C. I. Sajeeth, welcomed the group and wasfollowed by Patron Janab P. P. Unneen Kutti Moulavi gave the Inaugural Address, giving the group study tips and stressing the value of parents monitoring their children's development in extracurricular and academic pursuits.

It was anticipated that the Keynote talk, delivered by Prof. Dr. Y. Haribabu, Principal of Grace College of Pharmacy, would be an inspirational speech motivating parents and students to achieve their objectives with determination. Following that, the heads of the departments of pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacology, Respectively, Dr. Baskar L. and Dr. R. Sivakumar, gave a felicitation speech.

On 23rd September, 2023 Grace College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Indian Pharmacy Graduates Association (Kerala State Branch), took part in the KERALA STARTUP MISSION (GOVT. OF KERALA) & KERALA MEDTECH CONSORTIUM program.

The inauguration was kicked off with a welcome speech by Mr. Jayan PM, President of IPGA Kerala, and a Presidential Address by Mr. C Padmakumar, Special Officer, Kerala, Medical Technology Consortium. Mr. Mohammed Hanish IAS, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, gave the guest of honor speech, and Dr. Rajasree gave the special address.KUHS Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, R.S. Dean. Lastly, Mr. Dileep G, General Secretary of IPGA (Kerala State Branch), offered a vote of gratitude.

The program offers a number of features, such as investment/startup opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector, available government schemes for new startups in Kerala, career opportunities in pharmacy - paths after graduation, and the Head of Infrastructure and Inclusive Entrepreneurship Kerala Startup Mission.

With this in mind, the program offers a unique feature that helps students advance their careers in their placements and develop futuristic entrepreneurship. The visit to Startup Mission Village was finally completed by 4 pm, at which point a vote of gratitude was held.

GRACE COLLEGE OF PHARMACY LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Grace College of Pharmacy organized a Legal Awareness Program for our second year B. Pharmacy and Pharm.D students in collaboration with Kerala State Legal Services Authority on April 4, 2023 at Grace College of Pharmacy Auditorium. Around 115 B. Pharm and PharmD students actively participated in this program. The program started with the prayer song sung by the B. Pharm students.

 

The group was welcomed by Dr. Baskar L., Prof. of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Prof. Dr. Y. Haribabu, Principal of Grace College of Pharmacy, delivered a keynote address in which he elaborated on the major aspects of anti-ragging and the various committees involved in it.

 

            The most important guest of the program, Advocate Srimati Lekshmy M. L., then spoke to the students about the issue of anti-ragging and how to combat it, also addressing a number of case studies from day today life. She also pointed out the harsh punishment for which the case had been published earlier. Young people spoke up during the discussion, raising a number of questions that were clarified and stressing the importance of parents monitoring their children's development both in and out of school.

 

            Ms. Reshma Fathima, Associate professor at Grace College of Pharmacy, concluded by thanking the group. The national anthem served as the program's closing music.
